Chihuahua are small dogs, which today make great fashion accessories for the rich and famous. For this reason there is something very 'Hollywood' about Chihuahua and they have grown in popular among young dog owners.
Holywood Chihuahua History
The first Hollywood Chihuahua set the trend by being the spokesperson for Taco Bell in 1997. Taco Bell Dog appeared in an advert slightly before Chihuahua had the fame they have today and was so successful in promoting the restaurant chain that he would later be used in many more ads and made himself a household name. Like a furrier version of the Halifax man...

This Hollywood Chihuahua was only the first in a long line however and soon many rich and well known celebrities were cottoning on to how cute they were. The Chihuahua became the dog for fashionistas due to their small size (meaning they can be carried in a handbag) and for their unusual faces and attractive fur. This spawned the term ‘accessory dog’.
Paris Hilton's Holywood Chihuahua
The next and perhaps most famous Hollywood Chihuahua is Tinkerbell – the pooch of Paris Hilton (poor little fella) who rode the wave of Hilton’s success appearing regularly in the reality TV show The Simple Life. Tinkerbell even penned a memoir in 2004 The Tinkerbell Hilton Diaries. When Tinkerbell later was dog-napped, Paris offered a reward of $5,000 for her safe return - now that’s a Hollywood Chihuahua!
